Starhaus Filmproduktion GmbH was founded by Rainer Kölmel in 1994 as Kinowelt Filmproduktion. From 2003 until
2013 it was 100% owned by Starhaus Produktionen GmbH in Munich. After the sale of Kinowelt to Studiocanal in
2008 the name was changed to Starhaus Filmproduktion.
In 2010 Wasiliki Bleser joint Rainer Kölmel as second
managing director and in October 2013 Wasiliki Bleser became shareholder and sole managing director of Starhaus
Filmproduktion. Rainer Kölmel remains actively involved in the daily running of the company.
The company has an eclectic portfolio of predominantly arthouse films. Starhaus does not see itself restricted to
any particular genre. The selection of the projects is based on personal taste and many years of experience in
distributing feature films and documentaries. Like that a good balance of quality and commercial viability is
being achieved. While Kinowelt Filmproduktion first embarked on the production of a number of acclaimed international
films, Starhaus Filmproduktion also produces German films.
